Tips for Tidying Up Your Pet's Spaces

Looking for a good reason on why you should clean your pets space? We can give you 300 million reasons! Fur-Real!

Well we don't have that much time to go over them, but we all know that dogs, pigs, and cats have an incredible sense of smell. In fact, some dogs have over 300 million scent receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in humans.

Have you ever gone into a smelly place? Like your little brother’s room or a damp basement? Imagine what it would be like if those smells were 60 times stronger?! That would be really gross!

Animals have an incredible since of smell. When their bedding gets dirty or smelly, you could imagine that they can smell it even better than you.

Clean bedding is not just about keeping things smelling fresh, it prevents the growth of bacteria and fungus; which can irritate your pets skin.

Some pets have skin issues which can be made worse by dirty bedding. If your pet lives outdoors it is even more important to freshen their bedding since it will likely get dirtier faster.

Today we are launching our #FreshAndCleanChallenge! Here are some tips to get you started tidy up your pet’s space.

1- Ask your parent’s to set up a weekly tasks reminder on our app so that you can earn points for cleaning and washing your pets bedding.

2- Use non scented laundry detergent. Some scents can be too strong for pets and can irritate them. You can also add baking soda for a little extra cleaning action.

3- Shred some newspaper and swap out for wood chips. Certain types of wood chips may have oils or scents that can be too harsh for guinea pigs or other rodents.

4- Vacuums may be terrifying for your cats, but fleas and dust mites are even scarier. If the vacuum is to heavy use a lint roller to clean their spaces.

5- A fun and easy hack to remove pet hair from hard to reach places is to use a rubber glove. The hair sticks to the glove!
