Read this before giving your pets treats from your pantry or fridge!
When your pet is begging for people food, it can be hard to resist that sweet face! However, it is important to know that some people foods can be dangerous for pets. Some foods may be toxic, while others can be a choking hazard.
Foods that can be dangerous for dogs and cats are:
Xylitol, a sweetener found in everything from gum and candy, to toothpaste
Avocados and avocado pits
Onions and garlic
Grapes and raisins
Fruits with pits, like peaches or plums
If your pet ingests something dangerous, contact your local veterinarian or emergency clinic as soon as possible.
Even though many people foods are toxic to dogs and cats, they can still have some in moderation.
Foods that your dog or cat can eat:
Fully-cooked, lean meats, Carrots, cucumbers, zucchinis, baked potatoes
Apples, bananas, and watermelons (Make sure to remove the rinds and seeds!)
Boiled white rice
Always consult your veterinarian before incorporating new foods into your pet’s diet.
